Melanoma

Melanoma is the most serious form of skin cancer arising from the pigment producing cells in the skin called Melanocytes.

Melanoma commonly arises from a new or changing mole on the skin. It may have an unusual shape. A melanoma may be detected at an early stage when it is only a few millimetres in diameter, but they may grow to several millimetres in diameter.

Sometimes Melanoma can occur on the face, palms, soles and even the nails.

The earlier it is picked up, the higher the chance of treatment and cure.
